Staff and volunteers of the Textile Research Centre
Permanent staff
The director of the Stichting Textile Research Centre (TRC) is Dr. Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood. She is a specialist in Near Eastern textiles and dress, and honorary member of the Leiden Institute for Religious Studies (Leiden University). Other staff include Dr. Anna Beerens, who is the office manager and specialises in Japanese dress. Ms. Else van Laere helps with the (financial) administration and PR. A fourth staff member is Mrs. Riet van de Velde. She is engaged in cataloguing and maintaining all of the collection and in particular the Dutch collection. All are helped at regular intervals by Mrs. Angela Driessen-de Laat and a number of trainees and students from the Faculty of Archaeology and the Faculty of Humanities, Leiden University.
In addition, the work of the TRC is supported by a number of people who give specialist advice, or who undertake specific tasks, such as running the library, helping with the TRC shop, management of the TRC webpages, etc.
Vacancies
Now the TRC has moved to new premises, it has various vacancies for volunteers in various fields, including collection management, public relations, research, and the shop. We are also looking for qualified speakers and/or teachers who are willing to present lectures and/or courses on the subject of textiles, dress and identity.
