Staff and volunteers of the Textile Research Centre

Permanent staff

The director of the Stichting Textile Research Centre (TRC) is Dr. Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood. She is a specialist in Middle Eastern textiles and dress, and honorary member of the Leiden Institute for Religious Studies (Leiden University). Other staff include Dr. Anna Beerens, who specialises in Japanese dress. Ms. Else van Laere helps with the (financial) administration and PR. A fourth staff member is Mrs. Riet van de Velde. She is engaged in cataloguing and maintaining all of the collection and in particular the Dutch collection. All are helped at regular intervals by Mrs. Angela Driessen-de Laat and a number of trainees and students from the Faculty of Archaeology and the Faculty of Humanities, Leiden University.

In addition, the work of the TRC is supported by a number of people who give specialist advice, or who undertake specific tasks, such as running the library, helping with the TRC shop, management of the TRC webpages, etc.

Vacancies

Now the TRC has moved to new premises, it has various vacancies for volunteers in various fields, including collection management, public relations, research, and the shop. We are also looking for qualified speakers and/or teachers who are willing to present lectures and/or courses on the subject of textiles, dress and identity.

The TRC is dependent on project support and individual donations. All of our work is being carried out by volunteers. To support the TRC activities, we therefore welcome your financial assistance: donations can be transferred to ING bank account number 2982359, in the name of the Textile Research Centre, Leiden. Since the TRC is officially recognised as a non-profit making cultural institution (ANBI), donations are tax deductible for 125% for individuals, and 150% for commercial companies.
