Gallery lecture: Prince of the Day: Circumcision clothing from Turkey
Speaker : Yvonne van Santen
One of the most important events in the life of a Turkish boy is his circumcision. For the occasion the young boy is given special clothing. This lecture will discuss and show examples of the four main types of Turkish circumcision clothing. The lecture coincides with a small exhibition in the TRC Gallery.

Lecture and clothing demonstration: Kimono's of Todat
Speaker: Anna Beerens
This lecture with demonstration tells about the kimono in modern Japan, and some of the questions that confront the kimono wearer when she starts to dress herself in the morning. The opportunity will be provided to look closely at the kimono´s, accessories and underwear.

Workshop Arabic Embroidery
Speaker: Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood
This lecture provides an introduction to the use of embroidery in the Arab world. It will touch upon the various most important types of embroidery, and the opportunity is given to experiment with various types of stitches. Embroidery material is avaliable.

Lecture: Afghan Clothing

In Afghanistan there are many ethnic groups, and many of them have their own types of clothing. This lecture will introduce the various types of traditional Afghan dress, to coincide with the exhibition of Afghan clothing in the TRC Gallery.

Lecture with clothing demonstration: Saris from India

This lecture provides an introduction to a well-known type of clothing, namely the Indian sari. During the lecture the opportunity is given to try various types of saris. The lecture/demonstration is given by ladies from the Indian community in Holland.

Lecture with clothing demonstration: Face Veils and Veiling
Speaker: Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood
For many women in the world the face veil  plays an important role in their life. This lecture, with demonstration, will touch upon the various types of face veil, their history and background, and the various variations worn to the present day.

Lecture: The Clothing of Tutankhamun
Speaker: Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood
The Pharaoh Tutankhamun has become world famous because of his golden death mask. Far less known is the large collection of clothing that was worn by the Pharaoh during his life, and subsequently buried with him.  The clothing is decorated with woven patterns, embroidery, beads and golden ornaments. During the lecture the opportunity is given to wear various replicas of Tutankhamun´s clothing.
