This lecture will look at the history and main types of American quilts, from indigo feathered star forms of the early 19th century, via Amish and Mennonite quilts and 1950’s kits, to present-day practices. Examples of quilts from the TRC’s large collection of quilts will be on display. The lecture will be given by the New Zealand quilt historian and collector, Susan Cave.
