Medieval Indian textiles found in Egypt. Lecture by Dr. Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood, director TRC, on Friday 19th July, from 14.30 - 15.30. The lecture will be followed by drinks and a small buffet. Location: TRC, Hogewoerd 164.

For hundreds years India has been exporting woven, dyed and block printed textiles to Asia, Central Asia as well as the Middle East. This talk looks at the relevant medieval textiles found in Egypt during excavations at the Red Sea port of Quseir al Qadim, as well as finds from Gebel Adda, Qasr Ibrim, Fustat, and other archaeological sites.
