Threaded Chain Stitch

The threaded chain stitch is a variation on a chain stitch

With a threaded chain stitch, either a row of chain stitches and/or isolated chain stitches are worked on the ground material and then the stitches are threaded with a second yarn of a similar or contrasting colour. The yarn is normally worked in vertically and horizontally straight lines and does not go through the ground material. The threading yarn may go once up through the first stitch and down through the second stitch, so creating a wavy line, or two wavy lines may be worked in opposite directions, so producing a row of alternating loops and chain stitches.
