The new digital TRC encyclopaedia of decorative needlework, although still 'work in progress', has now been put on line with more than 1400 entries. The encyclopaedia, which is due to grow to an enormous collection of thousands of entries, contains brief articles on a plethora of subjects, but all related to the fascinating world of needlework. There are articles on well-known items, such as the Bayeux tapestry, but also on less famous objects, such as a Maundy Money purse from 18th century England. There are entries with drawings on numerous stitches used worldwide or in specific regions. There are illustrations with descriptions of drawings and paintings with needlework. You will even find some real 'needlework' poems. Many of the illustrated examples are taken from the still rapidly growing TRC collection, which now houses more than 10,000 objects.
