Queen Mary Psalter, now housed in the British Library, London, is named after the English Queen Mary, who obtained the Psalter in 1553. The Psalter contains many illuminations, one of which (MS Royal 2B VII f. 37v) shows, to the left, a woman working her embroidery on a rectangular frame. The drawing refers to the Biblical story of Gideon (Jerubbaal). The drawing, and the full manuscript, date to c. 1310-1320.

The lamentation of Christ (De bewening van Christus) is a painting ascribed to the Flemish painter, Rogier van der Weijden (c. 1400-1464) and his atelier, and dated to c. 1460. It measures 80.6 x 130.1 cm and is housed in the Mauritshuis, The Hague, The Netherlands.

The Madonna del Ricamo (Our Lady of Embroidery) is the name of a fresco allegedly by the Italian medieval artist, Vitale da Bologna (c. 1309-1360). The fresco is now housed in the Museo della Storia di Bologna. It dates to the period between 1330 and 1340. The fresco measures 118 x 79 cm.

The Palazzo Schifanoia in Ferrara, Italy, is decorated by frescoes painted by Cosme Tura, Francesco del Cossa, Baldassare d'Este and Ercole Roberti. The Triumph of Minerva by Francesco del Cossa (c. 1435 - c. 1477) is located on the eastern wall.
