Half back stitch
The half back stitch is made in very much the same way as the 'normal' back stitch, but the stitches on the obverse of the fabric are separated, and not touching each other as with the back stitch. Also known as the detached back stitch.

Tied herringbone stitch
The tied herringbone stitch is a composite stitch, which is worked by making a line of herringbone stitches followed by a line of coral stitches over the top, preferably in a contrasting colour. This stitch is also known as the coral knotted herringbone stitch.
