Suzhou or Su Xiu (苏绣) embroidery is created around the city of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. Embroidery has been carried out in this part of China for many centuries. Embroiderers are known for their use of many embroidery techniques and hundreds of different types of threads.

The main designs of Suzhou embroidery reflect nature and the environment, and include animals, birds and flowers. Some of the embroidery is double sided; the motifs may not be identical on either side of the ground material, but the extremely fine filaments are hidden into the cloth, so it is no longer clear what is the front and back of the cloth.
