Suhaimi, Izziyana (1986)

Izziyana Suhaimi is a Singapore-based textile artist who works principally with weaving and embroidery techniques. Her work is characterised by a combination of illustration and embroidery, as for instance portraits of women decorated with geometric or floral embroidered motifs (see illustration below).

Copyright Tumbir (tumblr m5vd7kfUtR1qhxbtro1 500).Together with the Singapore Art Museum and the Yellow Ribbon Project ( a community initiative aimed at helping the re-integration of ex-prisoners), she worked with inmates of the Chiangi Women's Prison and helped them to create a series of art works on the themes of celebration, home, hope and transformation. One of the results was the Yellow Ribbon Community Art Exhibition, which opened in 2015.
