A biscornu consists of two embroidered squares that are usually made from an even-weave linen or an aida ground material, decorated with Holbein stitch or cross stitch. The two squares are sewn together on point: the corner of one square meets the middle of one of the sides of the other. The two pieces are sewn together with a whipped stitch and then stuffed. Many are finished with a button in the centre of the design.
