The glove was embroidered with raised goldwork, using spangles, purl and plate metal thread. The pattern includes British emblems, notably the Tudor rose, shamrock, thistle, and oak leaf acorns. The upper hand has a crown and E II R in raised gold purl. A duplicate glove from this coronation is in the Harborow collection of the Worshipful Company of Glovers, London (acc. no. 25749). Coronation gloves are sometimes referred to as gauntlets, because of their tapering shape.
