Virágozás

Virágozás means 'flowering', and refers to a Hungarian tradition of decorating fleeces with satin stitch in silk. The specific motifs were dependent on regional and family traditions. The motifs were prepared with stencils or templates. The stitches were worked carefully, without passing through the fleece.

Gabha Floor Covering

A gabha floor covering has a ground material made out of shaped woollen pieces that are sewn together (a form of patchwork). Gabhas derive from Kashmir in the northwest of the Indian subcontinent, and their use may be compared to that of the felt namdhas, also from Kashmir. Gabhas are often strengthened with a cotton lining.

Namdha

A namdha is a felt floor covering made of wool (or a mixture with another material, such as cotton, to produce a white background), primarily produced in Kashmir, in the northwest of the Indian subcontinent. The name was originally applied to felt mats with incorporated designs, but the term is now also used for coverings with chain stitched embroidery, worked with the ari hook.

Vic Cope

The Vic cope is an ecclesiastical vestment that used to be owned by the Roman Catholic Cathedral of St Peter the Apostle, in Vic, Catalonia, Spain. It was acquired by the Museu Episcopal in Vic, in the late nineteenth century (acc. no. MEV 1430). The cope in its present composition has a height of 123 cm and is 324 cm wide. It dates to the third quarter of the fourteenh century.
